Tounge La` Yat Education Gathering Group (EGG) Academy was established on the 12th of February 2011 by committed Karen scholarship alumni, religious leaders, community leaders and other socially engaged youths who are interested in education. Initially, the Tounge La` Yat Education Gathering Group (EGG) Academy aimed to improve the English Language Skills of the younger generation and has successfully run a three-month intensive English course twice, with 18 students in the first term and 19 students in the second term in 2011. The first program was successfully finished in October 2013 and the second batch was started in January 2014 with the recognition of the need for more practical work experiences, the program was extended to a two-year program. In 2020, Tounge La` Yat Education Gathering Group was formally redesigned and started a Higher Education Program called Diploma in Social and Development Studies. Since then, potential youth are recruited annually for the two-year education program of the Diploma in Social and Development Studies. In 2025, Tounge La` Yat Community College was formally redesigned as a two-year Higher Education Program named Associate of Arts in Community Development.
